Scottish winter landscape photography

We are often asked what we love to photograph, outside of weddings and portraits. One of the things that I’ve always gone back to throughout my years of clicking away at the world, is landscape photography. Not just because of the “look at all of the pretty” side of it (which is admittedly a big part), but because it almost always includes some sort of mini adventure. Whether that be waking up in the middle of the night and driving through the dark to see the sun fall across the sea, or hiking out with camera, camping and cooking gear to get the warmth of first or last light in a glen or mountain top. Landscapes have always fulfilled my addiction for the outdoors.

Now here’s some of that “look at all of the pretty”  I mentioned, from  this winter’s mini adventures…

If you want to keep up to date on my outdoor pursuits, you can follow me on Instagram, where I share both smartphone and ‘big camera’ photography.

These are print worthy

Christina & Lee – Edinburgh City Chambers

Even after 8 years of photographing weddings here in Edinburgh, we’re still discovering new (to us!) venues. We’d been really looking forward to Christina & Lee’s winter wedding at Edinburgh City Chambers – an elegant building that we regularly walk by but hadn’t seen inside before. And we knew that we were in for a very fun day with these two and their wonderful family and friends.  And we weren’t wrong! We wish Christina & Lee all the very best in their new adventure as husband and wife!

Clare & Matt – St Giles’ Cathedral & The Signet Library, Edinburgh

With its cobbled streets and winding closes, the atmospheric Old Town of Edinburgh is one of our favourite locations to photograph. Clare & Matt’s intimate winter wedding was full of beautiful smiles and gorgeous flowers, lovingly made details (thanks for the delicious jam Clare!) and great quotes from favourite books. Plus a whole lot of love. We wish Clare and Matt a lifetime full of these very same things.

Anne & Harry – Glasgow Cathedral & Cameron House, Loch Lomond

Anne & Harry’s wedding was full of our favourite things –  love and laughter, a bit of bling and a lot of style, Scottish banter and Irish craic, Guinness (of course!), and an exceptionally charismatic crowd. We left feeling as if we had spent the day with old friends, and wish them all the joy and happiness in the world.

Gillian & Imran – Old Course Hotel, St Andrews

On a very autumnal (aka bright but blustery) day, we headed to the iconic Old Course Hotel in Saint Andrews to photograph Gillian & Imran’s wedding. With nods to the historic setting (and Imran’s love of golf) and lots of lovingly made details, it was a beautiful day full of great banter, love and laughter.  We loved being around to share in the fun and wish Gillian & Imran all the very best in their next adventure as Mr & Mrs!

I love the picture of the wedding dress hanging at the window. It captures and frames the dress perfectly. Lovely photography, I will certainly be recommending you to any potential clients. – Helen 🙂 x
