Sophie & James’ wedding at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral & Signet Library, Edinburgh, Scotland

Sophie and James live in Dubai, have more than enough sunshine already in their lives, and were hoping for a typically Scottish summer’s day for their wedding. And Scotland was more than happy to deliver!

After their ceremony at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral we got to introduce them to some of our favourite spots in Edinburgh’s Old Town. And, of course, a few tourists simply couldn’t resist getting in on the photo action along the way – see if you can spot them. 😉

Then it was on to the incredible Signet Library (we fall a little more in love with this place every time!) for a night filled with love, laughter and dancing.

Sophie & James – Thanks for being so up for going along with our photo ideas! We absolutely loved getting to share in your day.

Megan & Ryan’s wedding at Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland

Where do we begin with Megan & Ryan’s wedding?! We have so many favourite moments and photos from the day. Not only did these two travel all the way from New York City to be married in Scotland, but they also shared the occasion with a very special VIP – Megan’s grandfather was celebrating his 99th birthday that very same day!

It was a wonderful day filled with love and laughter, little fellows in kilts, sunshine and smiles, and we absolutely loved getting to be part of it.

Megan & Ryan – We’re missing you guys already! Can we hang out again soon, pretty please?

Destination wedding photography Scotland

It may have something to do with us being a Scots-Canadian couple, but we love photographing destination weddings here in Scotland – seeing the country through the eyes of first-time visitors is always wonderful! So many of the weddings we shoot have an international flavour to them, and we love getting to see how different cultures celebrate –  Scottish traditions seem to combine with other customs so very well!

So whether you’re planning a pier jump in St Andrews, Italian opera singing, a traditional Persian wedding, a Chinese tea ceremony – or something else entirely! – we’d love to hear all about your plans! You can reach us on info@elementalphoto.co.uk

Northern Lights over the Scottish Highlands

We’ve been really lucking out with the Northern Lights lately – we were treated to an amazing  show as the clock struck midnight at New Year and again on Mother’s Day (the perfect present to go with the celebratory glass of wine I was having at the time!). It’s definitely a big plus of country living – although we are missing good coffee something fierce (if only flat whites could be delivered…).

One of the most incredible moments of last year was driving up the A9 after visiting the Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry (which we can highly recommend if you haven’t been before!), and having to pull over because the aurora was so distracting. A great problem to have! On the way, I had joked that it would be a brilliant way to end the night if we got to see the Northern Lights. Hearing the stags rutting in the hills at the same time was absolutely magical.
