Class of 2011 – wedding highlights

This post has been quite some time in the making – narrowing a year’s worth of images into one blog feature is never easy, and we’ve had to be really strict with ourselves, otherwise there would have been 15 shoe shots in here for a start!

2011 was a fantastic year for us. We worked with lots of very lovely people, made some friends for life along the way, discovered some new favourite wedding venues and were so impressed by one first dance that we’ve vowed to take swing dance lessons ourselves.

The highlight of the year was when we won the Photography category at the VOWS Awards in November – becoming the first photographer ever to win this coveted award twice. We are still on a bit of a high and can’t wait for the good times to roll in 2012.

Victoria & David’s wedding – St Margaret’s Chapel, Edinburgh Castle

Victoria and David travelled from Australia with their gorgeous little boy, to be married in an intimate ceremony at Edinburgh Castle. It was a beautiful, bright winter’s day, and a fantastic way to kick off the year.

Victoria & Gavin’s wedding – Mansfield Traquair, Edinburgh

A choir sang as candles flickered and fairy lights glowed on Christmas trees. Victoria & Gavin’s beautifully atmospheric wedding was the perfect end to our year. Claire & Neil’s wedding – Colinton Church & Hopetoun House, South Queensferry

From the very first time we met Claire & Neil, we knew that their wedding day would be full of love, laughter and great music. Add in some brilliant surprises along the way, and it was a day that their guests will be reminiscing about for a very long time to come.

Jennifer & Andrew’s wedding – Edinburgh Castle & The Caledonian Hilton Hotel

Jennifer and Andrew met on a transatlantic flight, when a twist of fate saw Andrew upgraded to a seat next to his future wife. She asked to borrow a pen and the rest, as they say, is history.

Based in the US, they put so much thought into planning their perfect Scottish wedding, and it was lovely to see the surprises they had planned for each other (and their guests) unfold throughout the day.

There were also one or two unexpected elements, but Jen & Andy took the guest appearance by Lothian & Borders Fire Brigade (which fortunately turned out to be as a result of a false alarm), very much in their stride.

Jen & Andy – We had so much fun photographing your wedding. From the Frank-inspired group photos to the impromptu ceilidh in the street, it was such a great day! You clearly mean the world to each other and it was a pleasure to capture your Edinburgh wedding story. We look forward to showing you more photos soon! C&J x
