Class of 2011 – wedding highlights

This post has been quite some time in the making – narrowing a year’s worth of images into one blog feature is never easy, and we’ve had to be really strict with ourselves, otherwise there would have been 15 shoe shots in here for a start!

2011 was a fantastic year for us. We worked with lots of very lovely people, made some friends for life along the way, discovered some new favourite wedding venues and were so impressed by one first dance that we’ve vowed to take swing dance lessons ourselves.

The highlight of the year was when we won the Photography category at the VOWS Awards in November – becoming the first photographer ever to win this coveted award twice. We are still on a bit of a high and can’t wait for the good times to roll in 2012.

And The Bells Were Ringing Out…

The Elemental elves have packed up our last order, festivities and Fire Punch are calling, and another year is drawing to an end.

And what a year it has been! We’ve been lucky to once again meet, get to know and work with a lot of very lovely people, and in incredible locations ranging from cliff tops to castles to cowsheds. We’ll be posting our 2011 wedding highlights here from early January.

There were sad faces at Elemental Towers when we had to turn down destination weddings in Cuba & Jamaica this year – we love to travel but our diary gets booked up pretty far in advance! But we did manage to squeeze in a trip to Rome with some of our favourite wedding industry friends in autumn. We look forward to sharing these photos with you as soon as we get a day or two spare to edit them!

We also got to unleash our inner fashion photographer divas on creative shoots this year. The final shoot (codenamed ‘forest’) is still under wraps, but we promise it will be worth the wait and can’t wait to share it in the New Year!

Last, but definitely not least, we were over the moon to win Best Photographer at the VOWS Awards in November, and to become the first photographer ever to win this coveted award twice. It means a huge amount to us – particularly when the competition was so stiff – and we really, really appreciate the support of our lovely clients who voted for us.

That’s it from us, we’re off to overdose on Christmas films, and to catch up with our friends and family here in Scotland. And then we’re going to do it all over again in Canada in February.

A choir sang as candles flickered and fairy lights glowed on Christmas trees. Victoria & Gavin’s beautifully atmospheric wedding was the perfect end to our year. The clue is in the first photo, but nobody was going to let the torrential rain spoil Carrie & Neil’s big day. Cue blingy slippers, brollies, big smiles & busting even bigger shapes on one of the most high energy dancefloors we have seen. In other words, an all-round beautiful day!

We’re a bit lost for words when it comes to introducing the second part of Sheila & Nehal’s gorgeous wedding. Let’s just say that anyone who incorporates Eye of the Tiger into their wedding reception is instantly granted lifetime gold membership of Team Elemental.

To say that Sheila and Nehal put an incredible amount of thought, time and effort into creating their perfect wedding day is an understatement. Every detail was planned to perfection, and the end result was simply beautiful.

It all began with a magical mystery tour, with their guests having no idea that the ceremony would be taking place amongst the rugged beauty of Inchcolm Island in the Firth of Forth.
