We’ve been hearing from lots of couples lately who have decided to elope to Scotland and then celebrate with their friends and family when they get home. An intimate Edinburgh wedding for two, followed by a honeymoon exploring Scotland – often with a road trip through Glencoe to the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye – followed by a big knees up back home, sounds pretty good to us!

When Megan and Sebastian got in touch to tell us about their plan to avoid all the wedding planning craziness and just make the day about themselves, then spend time exploring and hiking their way around Scotland, we couldn’t wait to hear more. They were looking for natural photography and were keen to have the story of their day documented – from their preps at Prestonfield Hotel (we love that they got ready together in one of the suites there!) right through to their evening meal at The Witchery, one of Edinburgh’s most atmospheric restaurants. After learning about Edinburgh mostly via Google and Pinterest, they were excited to experience the history and scenery of the city.

Not only was Jay looking forward to being their tour guide but he also had the honour of getting to be one of Megan and Sebastian’s witnesses at their ceremony in Lothian Chambers. The Fringe Festival was in full swing, which only added to the atmosphere as they made their way through the cobbled streets and winding closes. And despite the typically Scottish weather that day, they managed to make it to some of the city’s most beautiful spots – hopping in and out of a cab in-between to dodge the showers! Afterwards, Megan described it as quite an adventure, and said that being led around the city and stopping for photos along the way was a great experience, despite the rain.

When they got back home, Megan and Sebastian were excited to play their slideshow at their party: “Our family and friends loved it at our cocktail reception. We had some criers! It was the perfect way to share Sebastian’s and my day with our loved ones.”

They were also keen to have an album to remember their day by, and because they were super efficient when it came to choosing their favourite photos, we were able to design and then courier it to the States for them just before Christmas: “We received our wedding album and love it! It is beautiful. The picture layout does a great job in describing our wedding day. Thank you so much for everything! Sebastian and I really appreciate the help and effort you both put into our wedding. It means a lot to us.”

When we open up our inbox to messages like that, it’s always the very best feeling! So grateful we got to be part of their Scottish wedding adventure!
