We had a great day in Stirlingshire with Romana and Allen, who were determined that the wild weather wouldn’t dampen their celebrations.

Our day began in the Honeymoon Suite, where the girls were getting ready. Romana had brought her dress over from Munich and it was absolutely gorgeous…

Down at the church, the guests were in great spirits, despite the stormy weather! Friends and family had travelled from all over Europe to join Romana & Allen on their special day.

The rings!

The rain held off as Romana was piped into the church.

A beautiful service followed, in both English and German. A singer performed a wonderful rendition of “The first time ever I saw your face” and “Ave Maria”.

And then it was time to brave the elements again!

A number of German customs were incorporated into the day – including the throwing of rice rather than confetti. The night before the wedding, an event called Polterabend took place. This German custom involves smashing plates and china as a sign of good luck for the married couple. The idea is that these plates will be broken, but the marriage never will.

We then popped back into the church for some photos (and to warm up!).

And then it was on to Culcreuch Castle. Romana & Allen chose a silver mini as their wedding car…

As soon as the weather calmed down we went outside for some photographs.

And got very lucky with a five minute window of beautiful light…

The handsome groom…

And very beautiful bride…

And then it was back in to the warmth of the reception venue.

Bridesmaid Judith looked great in her traditional Bavarian dress. She decided to give the pipes a go…

The younger guests were incredibly sweet…

And soon it was time for Romana’s dad to open the speeches with a poem he had written for the happy couple.

Romana & Allen – Thanks for being so fantastic to work with and for your willingness to brave the extreme weather – we think you’ll agree it was worth it! We hope you enjoy your preview and have a safe trip home!
