How grateful are we that our couples take our crazy suggestions and roll with them? Very! When Anna and Tim said they’d love to have their engagement shoot with Dunnottar Castle, a ruined medieval fortress near Stonehaven, as the dramatic backdrop, we sprung the news on them that sunrise would be the best time to shoot and that this would mean a 4.30am start! Luckily, they were completely up for it and we headed down to this amazing spot in the dark and waited for the sun to rise and the magic to happen.

As we warmed up with coffee on the beach afterwards (thanks to Jay’s trusty Jetboil – which I thought was just a glorified, and over-priced kettle when he first bought it, but oh how wrong I was!), we couldn’t help but think how much some parts of Scotland and Iceland look alike, with these black volcanic rocks and rugged seascapes. Maybe that means Game of Thrones will be filmed here again one day (filming the pilot episode at Doune Castle was a total tease!). Dear Universe…

Our next adventure with Anna and Tim will be on their wedding day later this month, when they will tie the knot in another of our favourite places in Scotland, Drumtochty Castle which is set in an incredible wild woodland glen. We can’t wait to get to hang out and go exploring with them again!
